Updated Proposal

Possible Essay Structure;
Possible Title? (needs checking): How can the issue of food waste be highlighted at a local level, and how can people be actively involved in making positive changes to the cycle of waste?

How is the level of food waste become a global issue and what is society doing to prevent this?

Introduction:

  • Purpose of study
  • what my essay will cover
  • What is food waste
  • How has it become an issue?
  • statistics?

Main Body
 (haven't decided the order yet):

  • to what extent is food waste an issue
  • to what extent is food waste an issue at a local level?
  • how are people trying to fix the issue?
  • Food banks- what are they? What are they doing to help?
  • Talk about some actual food banks- the real junk food project in leeds (hopefully I can contact them and get some research by talking to them)
  • What local campaigns are there?
  • An analysis of a food waste campaign?

  • Conclusion

Practical:

Last year I made an information pack aimed at families and children based on what you could do in your garden to help local wildlife.

I really enjoyed making this so I want to produce something very similar but based on a different topic (obviously). It may also be aimed at a different audience depending what I find out in my research. It may be that it would be more appropriate to target an adult audience rather than children.

I intend to speak to The Real Junk Food Project and other organisations to see if they'd be interested in a collaboration and my illustrating something for a campaign for them. This is would be great!!

The pack would be full of facts about food waste, food banks, little things that maybe you could put on the fridge?
interactive?
